Daar is 'n groot toename in veediefstal.

African Swine Fever1. African swine fever (ASF) is found in warthogs, bush pigs and other wild pigs in the ASF-controlled areas of Limpopo, Mpumalanga, North West, the northern parts of KwaZulu-Natal and in other Southern African countries. Domestic and wild pigs and their products may not be removed from ASF affected areas or countries because these are dangerous to pigs in the rest of South Africa.

Although good rains may have fallen in many areas towards the end of summer, this does not mean that the severe effects of the widespread past summer drought are at an end. There is too little time before winter sets in for pasture growth and recovery to ensure adequate feed for grazing animals ahead of the next summer rains.

Therefore we believe that farmers should again be encouraged to take the right measures to protect and feed their core breeding livestock and avoid having animals slowly starving to death. The attached communication should be used to assist farmers to make the right decisions. You are welcome to translate this statement or to modify or summarise it, subject to the retention of the essential meanings and principles as set out.
